In memoriam, Ed Ingoldsby

In Memoriam, Ed Ingoldsby

We, at the St Luke Foundation in Haiti, would like to publicly offer our condolences on the death of our good friend Ed Inglesby, to his wife Barbara, and all of Ed's family and friends.

This is a small message of condolence, but a large sharing of hearts.

From the time we heard of Ed's recent and sudden illness, all of us here felt very sad about the news, and very helpless, with no way to visit or help.

We prayed very hard for Ed. I did an all night vigil for his healing. I implored St Ann.

When we heard two days later that Ed went home for hospice care, we bent to arc of our prayers, to praying for some simple but holy things for Ed: that memories of love and friendship might flood him, that he might feel Jesus very near to him as a great Consolation, and that he might have a holy death marked by "that peace that surpasses all understanding."

Now with the news of his death, we want to let you know that we treasured Ed's friendship, that he made a big impression on us and many people here in Haiti because of his gentle ways and palpable goodness, (and also for his daring, even to come in times of danger and trouble!)

Please receive our sympathy, and our simple offering of nine days of prayer with remembrance at daily mass, for Ed's eternal rest and for your consolation and strength.

Fr Rick Frechette CP, and the whole St Luke team in Haiti
