St Luke Hospital received a delegation from GSD Healthcare
/On November the 15th,despite all the difficulties St Luke Hospital had the honor of welcoming a delegation of 5 medical staff from the Global Destination Healthcare (GSD) team. Their aim is to continue to provide the most up-to-date professional development for our staff in Haiti, always taking into account the local situation.
The GSD Team started in 2013, and since then, they have been coming to Haiti at least twice a year to build relationships, teach and share knowledge, and finally, at the end of the year, perform surgeries and procedures. Their main goal is to restore human dignity. Since the group's inception, they have provided over 200 HoLEP surgeries and over 250 general surgeries at St Luke Hospital. The team is determined and committed to continuing this partnership with Haiti, and hopes to build partnerships with other countries in the near future.
St Luke Family Hospital, was the first hospital in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area to receive Covid-19 patients and continues to do so. Throughout the pandemic, we also continued to ensure the availability of urgent care unrelated to the pandemic.
This year, the training focused on the management of respiratory distress.During the 2 days, the GSD team were able to teach the participants the skills and techniques necessary to manage patients with respiratory failure, especially those who have Covid 19 as per the latest international standards of care. 15 of our doctors assigned to emergency and ICU had the opportunity to participate in this specialized training.
Conferences offering training such as this empower medical staff, empower them to better care for patients with respiratory failure and equip them with the skills to act in emergency situations.
We are extremely grateful for this partnership.
